Stress is a natural and necessary part of life;  however, too much can lead to "distress".  While everyone copes differently, the following are some factors which contribute to stress in the workplace:-

  • Uncertainty relating to job or organisation changes

  • Role ambiguity and conflict

  • Workload demands
  • Lack of performance feedback
  • Low job control
  • Inappropriate management style
  • Managing competing priorities
  • Parenting and work/life balance
  • Bullying and harassment
  • Being undermanaged or overmanaged

Our stress management programmes can be conducted in a group setting or on an individual basis.  The content is highly personalised.  Participants focus on their own situations in a supportive and confidential environment and learn a range of strategies and skills to reduce and better manage their stress responses.

Topics

  • Understanding the nature, role and effects of stress
  • Identifying workplace and personal factors that cause stress
  • Measuring your own level and pattern of stress
  • Quick control and relaxation techniques
  • Cognitive behavioural techniques
  • Developing social support, problem-focussed coping and resilience strategies
  • Lifestyle factors
  • Personal action planning

Occupational & General Stress Report

Prior to the programme, participants will complete an assessment questionnaire.  The report will include information on the participant's level of occupational & general stress;  the effect of stress on his/her emotional & physical health and the coping mechanisms used to deal with this stress.
